Music For Literacy
How can anything so fun be so good for you!
Music stimulates brain activity, increasing the neural pathways that underpin literacy. And when we join in with music we release ‘feel good’ endorphins too! The School Ready Music Programme offers an easy way to get all that music goodness. With songs about lions, trains, banging drums and shaking shakers there is plenty to keep pre-schoolers engaged and happy while they are learning. Have a listen now and test it out!
One Man Band
Children love marching around the room as they clap hands, stamp feet and tap thighs, exploring body percussion in line with Letters and Sounds Phase One, Aspect 3. The sequence of sounds also builds pattern recognition skills that support literacy and maths. Added benefits are fitness, developing fine and gross motor skills and having fun with classmates. Discover lots of ways to learn through music with 18 exciting songs from the School Ready Music Programme.Download ‘Let’s Tap A Word’ and discover a fun and effective way to help children tune into syllables
This uptempo action song keeps energetic children engaged while they explore word rhythms with tapping sticks. Children love to use tapping sticks! They draw out even the shyest child and help children tune into rhythm and beat. If you don’t have tapping sticks don’t worry – wooden spoons work just as well or you can clap hands, stamp feet or bang on a cardboard box!

Foundation Stage Advisory Teacher, PortsmouthOur setting recently invested in the Boogie Mites training CD/DVD. I cannot express how thrilled everyone is with the programme. It is practical, easy to use and follow, informative and supportive. We cannot believe the positive results we have had already, Boogie Mites is now permanently scheduled into our daily planning.
