Introduction

A Boogie Mites Trainer introduces the programme giving a summary of how neuromusical research informs us about the potential power of regular music practice for boosting early years development in many different areas. Links to cross curricular development and to musical development are considered. A video of a song from the programme is viewed to observe the teacher role and children’s responses. The format of the 5 training modules below is reviewed with a demonstration of the online course modules and programme resources on our CustomerHub. This video gives you the background knowledge to understand the value of regular music practice and will set you up to start learning the songs and linked music activities, try them out with you children, ready to consider long term implementation in the summary video.

Summary

This video facilitates reflection on the practice during the course. A video of a song in action is reviewed to observe children’s behaviours and to consider what progression will look like. Intent, implementation and impact for the long term are considered to support embedding the music practice in daily routines to maximise opportunities to harness the power of music to support development.

A team meeting is recommended following completion of the course where it is new to the setting, to discuss embedding the music practice going forward.

Benefits

Harness the power of music to support children from 3 months to 2 years.

Testimonials

“Great course that is easy to follow at your own pace. It was lovely to learn some new engaging songs that were easy to follow, fun and the children really do respond to them.” Sue Michaels, Little Bears, St. John’s Primary School, Woking

“I have found the resources provided to be excellent, giving lots of ideas on how to extend and expand activities. The songs and music are original and catchy, and I love the fact that I am helping the children to advance educationally in such a fun and enjoyable way! I feel that the fact that I am enjoying it so much is enthusing the children too. They all seem so eager to join in and to contribute their ideas and I feel confident that they are advancing in many areas, including their communication, social and gross motor skills, as well as becoming more confident and expressive individuals.” Paula Ariel, Little Stars Nursery, Staffs

“The training has been really informative and helpful. I am going to organise a meeting with the girls at work to set them up with the same information and start a wider programme to support our littles ones on the path to boogie-ing.” Lizi Winstanley, Longwood Nursery, Bushey

“Course was a lot of fun, Tutor was so enthusiastic, made me smile, made me feel happy about letting myself go and just having lots of fun in what I do.” Usha Ahir, Cliffehouse Nursery, Shipley

“Everyone needs to do a Boogie Mites course” Aimee Robinson, Scarisbrick Hall School, Lancashire
