Harriet writes and performs all of our original songs…
“I don’t know about you, but I love Michael Rosen’s classic children’s story ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’. So I was beyond honoured to get the opportunity to write 10 songs based on poems from Michael Rosen’s books for young children ‘A Great Big Cuddle’ and ‘Ready For Spaghetti’. And now the songs and videos are ready and waiting to be enjoyed by you and your child.”

Poetry Kids Can Dance To!
The 10 Musical Poems are a great way for very young children to get actively engaged with poetry through dance and singing. You can enjoy the songs and videos without Michael Rosen’s books. Or you can use them alongside the books ‘A Great Big Cuddle’ and ‘Ready For Spaghetti’ as a springboard into the world of poetry. Here is 3-year-old Charlotte enjoying Hip Hap Happy:
Boosting Language, Memory and Focus
Watching Charlotte, we can see why these songs are so great for her development. Not only is she reciting the words of the poem as she follows the song, but she is also joining in with some complex dance moves that require a high degree of body awareness and co-ordination. And all of this is demanding a high level of focus and concentration. This tallies with evidence from neuroscience that shows that daily music making boosts language, memory and attention skills.
This Stuff Works!
To be honest, at Boogie Mites the neuroscience evidence is simply confirming what we have observed over 25 years of running early years music workshops in nursery settings, schools and community venues. Through repetition of fun, music activities we have seen children grow in confidence and self-expression and develop strong communication and social skills. Plus, we know that grown-ups enjoy our funky, original songs as much as children do!
How do you help your child to learn at home?
There are lots of stories in the news right now about children starting nursery and school without the social, physical and language skills they need to thrive. So, if you have young children, chances are you are actively looking for ways to make sure that your child is getting opportunities to learn and develop. No-one wants their child to fall behind, particularly with foundations for literacy which is the key to learning.
We have launched a BRAND NEW WEB APP that you can use with your children at home to support their early language and literacy. The app contains 66 original Boogie Mites songs, split across three categories: “Musical Poems”, “Fun Phonics”, and “Topical Tunes”.
Our Musical Poems are based on recently published poems by world-renowned children’s author, Michael Rosen, and we are so proud to share all of this content with you.
We launched this as a pilot to test content in the UK in November 2022 and received the following feedback:
