Modules

Introduction

A Boogie Mites Trainer introduces the programme giving a summary of how neuromusical research informs us about the potential power of regular music practice for boosting early years development in many different areas. Links to cross curricular development and to musical development are considered. A video of a song from the programme is viewed to observe the teacher role and children’s responses. The format of the 5 training modules below is reviewed with a demonstration of the online course modules and programme resources on our CustomerHub. This video gives you the background knowledge to understand the value of regular music practice and will set you up to start learning the songs and linked music activities, try them out with you children, ready to consider long term implementation in the summary video.

Summary

This video facilitates reflection on the practice during the course. A video of a song in action is reviewed to observe children’s behaviours and to consider what progression will look like. Intent, implementation and impact for the long term are considered to support embedding the music practice in daily routines to maximise opportunities to harness the power of music to support development.

A team meeting is recommended following completion of the course where it is new to the setting, to discuss embedding the music practice going forward.

Benefits

Harness the power of music to support children from 3 months to 2 years.

Key benefits include:

  • Learn to lead creative group music activities with confidence in the baby room
  • Engage children in inclusive musical fun that energises and uplifts all involved
  • Support children’s development with activities based on neuroscience evidence
  • Link your music making to EYFS statutory and non-statutory guidance
  • Give the setting a music advantage for shouting about and sharing with parents and provides an effective vehicle for parent involvement
  • Eco friendly music activities that leave no carbon footprint – using recycled materials for instruments and digital music resources that last the lifetime of the setting

“This age group is very challenging because some of them are still learning to talk and socialize. English is not the first language for some of our students that’s why I’m so thankful for this program because I learned a lot on how to communicate and interact with kids through your beautiful songs and activities.” Tanya Pagsolingan, Kids Kingdom Play Center, Bangkok
