How do I get to use the programme?

At least one EY practitioners from a preschool or year R setting should attend training and acquire the teacher pack, which includes the license required to work with the songs and materials in public within the named setting.

What does the teacher training workshop involve?

The training workshop will run through each of the songs in the programme, covering:

  • Supporting activities and teaching tips
  • Development of musical skills
  • Ideas for progression
  • Links to the Letters and sounds and to the Early Years curriculum

We have several training options available but training can be tailored to requirements. The duration of the workshops will also depend on the training option selected.

What are the different teacher training options?

We have three different teacher training options, however training can be tailored to requirements. The three options are:

Individual settings

·         A Boogie Mites teacher visits the setting to deliver four workshops to a group of preschool or reception children.

·         The course will cover all of the songs and many of the musical exercises.

·         The programme resources will be left with the class teacher after week one.

·         The class teacher can join in with each workshop, observing how the songs are taught and can practice with the class between visits.

Group of settings

·         A group of up settings can get together and request a group training workshop

·         The maximum number of settings is 15

·         Ideally there should be two workshops:

o    Due to the amount of information that needs to be covered

o    To give an opportunity for teachers to try out what they have learnt and bring back any queries to the second session.

LEA funded training

·         A Boogie Mites trainer can lead training workshops for EY practitioners attending centrally funded training conferences.

o    For example Boogie Mites attended Early Years Conference in Portsmouth and will be attending the NCMA in November.

Can the programmes be used in other settings/areas?

Our teacher programmes are proving to be a valuable resource for EY practitioners working in the following areas:

  • SEN
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Sure Start
  • Children Center workers.
