Clare Tickell and The New EYFS
Recently Boogie Mites held their annual Team conference. This is where everyone who is involved with Boogie Mites gets together, shares best practise and learns about what's new in the world of Early Years Music. We also eat cake and do a lot of talking! This year Theresa Johnson, our resident EY expert, gave a presentation about the new EYFS which comes into practise in September 2012.The good news is that there is not much new....more of a reorganisation of the 6 areas of learning that we are now all familiar with. Also good is the fact that practitioners working in EY settings no longer have a ridiculously checklist to tick off to mark each child's progress.
But of course with every change comes a corresponding need to change documentation, posters, literature etc.......at a time when staff numbers and budgets are severely restricted!
To have a look at Theresa's presentation, please follow the link below.

If you have any comments or questions that you would like to ask Theresa, please add a post to our Facebook Page and we will reply within 24 hours.
We look forward to hearing your views

Initial Reflection on Minis Course at Dulwich Wood CC Spring 2012
Booogie Mites music leader Emma Ruth lead a 10 week Minis course at Dulwich Wood Children's Centre in Spring 2012. A meeeting was held between the Centre's head and manager and Emma Ruith and Harriet Thomas (Creative Director, Boogie Mites) to discuss what worked and what could be improved. We came up with some really useful ideas, in particular to decrease drop out rates and to increase home practise.
These ideas will be put into practise at Dulwich Wood CC during the next Minis course and will be shared with other centres running Boogie Mites courses to disseminate best practise.
