Boogie On Down with Chatterbox Challenge 2012
Last year over 250,000 children had fun learning and performing nursery rhymes and songs and raised almost £100,000 for children with communication difficulties. Led by Boogie Mites’ very own Hilary Palmer, those same children also smashed the Guinness World Record for the most amount of children singing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes in multiple locations. Chatterbox Challenge 2012 promises to be just as much fun with its theme Kids in Motion: helping children develop language and communication skills and to get active as well.
But how can music help to improve children's langauge skills? According to Sally Goddard Blythe, a consultant in neuro-developmental education, parents should sing to their children every day to avoid language problems developing in later life. Daniel Dwase, editor of the online Child Development Guide, agrees that nursery rhymes can aid a child's development and adds that, "Even better than just singing, though, is to teach songs with actions and encourage your child to dance along to the music, they will learn balance, co-ordination, body awareness and rhythm,"
So to help you to bring Music and Movement into your everyday life with your child, Boogie Mites has provided video and download resources from its acclaimed Music and Movement Programme to Support Letters and Sounds Phase One to help kids get moving and grooving for Chatterbox Challenge 2012.
