Healthy Living Programme
We have all heard about the growing problem of obersity.
Being obese can lead to serious health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, increased risk of cancer, back pain and depression. Being obese can shorten your life.
1/3 of toddlers now risk being obese adults.
This is a problem we need to tackle now by increasing the amount of physical activity we take and by reducing our calorie intake.
I’ve enjoyed seeing Darcey develop in confidence throughout this course and making new friends. We’ve tried different vegetables and she’s loved watching her bean grow. It was good fun and nice for me to meet other mums. Naomi, Privett Park, Gosport
Bradley watched his plant grown and this helped him to learn where some of our food comes from. Charlene, Privett Park, Gosport
Lauren has really enjoyed learning about healthy foods and growing her own bean plant! She has been teaching her older brother some of her favourite songs and I’ve enjoyed watching her really get into the activities. She likes the music on at home when we all join in the best. Sarah, Privett Park, Gosport
Music is a great way to engage children. It also motivates us to move more - that's why Zumba is such a big hit: we just have to move to the beat!
So it makes sense for Boogie Mites to create a Music and Movement Programme to help families move more and eat well. The Boogie Mites Healthy Living Music and Movement Programme is aimed at families with children 2-7yrs and provides a great way to get everyone in more physical activity and to develop healthy habits. This collection of 19 fun and funky songs was created as a part of the UK government's 'Change For Life' strategy to help families achieve a healthier lifestyle The fun funky songs are easy to learn and will help you involve children and families to develop the healthy habits that they can benefit from for the rest of their lives.
With the Boogie Mites Healthy Living CD Resource Pack you can encourage children and adults to::
Eat Well: Did you know that when we eat foods from all the colour groups, we are getting the optimum range of vitamins from our fruit and veg? The song 'Rainbow on my plate' helps us to think about the different colours of the fruit and veg that we enjoy eating. Families can use it to make shopping fun as children enjoy searching for food that can make a rainbow on their plate when they get home. 'Yummy Yummy Yummy' is a fantastic, catchy song that you can sing at mealtimes or snack times to help children choose their favourite healthy foods to eat. Children will also benefit from developing their language skills as they learn to clap out word rhythms.
Move More: Our action song 'Lets go to the park' will get the whole family moving and thinking about fun active things to do outside.
Grow Your Own: Our foot tapping number 'Watch it Grow' takes you through the process of growing a green bean from seed.
Recycle: 'Dan the Can' explains how a drinks can can be recycled and will get everyone singing along. Play it in the car on the way to the recycling centre!
Relax: Kids can get tired and stressed just like we can. So introduce them to the calming benefits of yoga with the magical 'Happy cat sad cat'. Meet lions, frogs and butterflies and end up feeling calm and relaxed.
