Specialist Licence For Freelance Practitioners

  • Are you a freelance Early Years, Speech and Language, Health, SEN or baby Practitioner?
  • Maybe you are an established consultant in your field, looking to add an evidence based music programme to extend you current offer to include music and movement activities. 
  • Or maybe you are an early years practitioner considering setting up your own business in line with the move of local authorities to commissioning outside specialist services. 

If so, then Boogie Mites are offering you the opportunity for  to train with us, to offer one of our specialist evidence based music programmes under licence alongside other services that you offer..

 The 2013 Chichester University  research study finds Boogie Mites original songs and linked activities, home made props and instruments, inspire children and adults alike to be enthused to take part and practice music making as part of everyday activities in the setting and at home.  

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for practitioners who are passionate about the benefits of music making and who will be enthusiastic about working with us to spread the joy and benefits of Boogie Mites active, specialist music making programmes. You do not need any music qualification, however music leading experience will be helpful. You will have early years experience and experience working with parent groups. You will need to have skills that will help you to market and run your own business. 

The specialist music programmes on offer are:

1. Boogie Mites School Ready Programme

This links 25 original songs and musical activities to the 7 aspects of Letters and Sounds Phase 1 and the areas of learning in the EYFS. It can be offered to pre-school and year R settings for the children in the setting and/or for parent involvement courses or workshops. The L&S recommended activities are based on a wealth of research regarding most important activities to support the foundations for children (3-5yrs) for language and literacy.  

The Boogie Mites Letters and Sounds programme is such a fun and exciting way of developing speech and language skills and really helps children learn to listen and respond.  Boogie Mites songs provide a valuable opportunity for self expression and creativity in the Foundation Stage setting.  Alison Prismal, Foundation Stage Advisory Teacher, Portsmouth

A perfect addition to services offered by a freelance Speech and Language Consultant or Early Years Practitioner supporting transition. The Boogie Mites Maths Programme can also be taken on to extend services offered for this age group.

2. Boogie Mites Sticks and Sounds Programme for Children with Additional Needs

There is a version of this programme for early years settings and parent groups and a version for primary/senior schools. The programme was developed with input from SEN teachers. The Chichester University study found that parents of children with development delay or English as a second language found Boogie Mite programmes offered a valuable support for communication which could involve the whole family at home. A perfect addition to services offered by freelance SEN Practitioners working with children and adults of all ages.

3. Boogie Mites Healthy Living Programme

A programme of 21 songs that support the healthy living topics - healthy eating, excercise, oral health, nature, recycling and outdoor life. The songs were written to support he Change for Life Government strategy. It can be offered to children in the school setting or parent groups for ages 2-5years. It offers a fun and active way to engage and inbed the healthy living message with parents and children, through music. A perfect addition to Services offered by freelance Early Years Health Practitioners.

4. Boogie Mites Babies Programme

A programme of 18 songs devlivered as a 6 week parent education course from birth to crawling. I wonderful opportunity to introduce the power and importance of music making with babies from the startBonding, baby massage , sensory play, treasure baskets, developmental stages and brain development are just some topics covered in the discussion time. A perfect addition to services offered by freelance Baby Massage or other Specialist Baby Practitioner.

What is the cost?
The approximate cost per programme:

  • £900 upfront to cover resource pack, training and Mentor support year 1. £500 territory fee.
  • Annual licence fee £600 per year

What can you charge?
It will be your own business, so your call. A guide would be the fees we charge for services in London: £750 for a 6 week 10 hour course with parents and children. One off nursery visit £65.00. You should research your own local market.

Will I be assigned a set territory?
Yes Boogie Mites use Atlas territory mapping model based on demographics that reflect the business potential and you will be assigned a specified territory that will be exclusively yours. You can extend the territory to grow your business by purchasing additional territories.

Can I take on other teachers?
Yes for a one time initial fee and an annual £100 increment in annual license fee per teacher you can grow your businees by growing your team.

How much time will I have to devote to it?

It is your business so it is up to you! There are no targets that you have to meet.  It is estimated that you would need to devite 2 days per week to get the business up and running profitably in the first year but thereafter you may decide to recruit other leaders and just manage the business.


Will I be the first Boogie Mites Specialist Licensee?

No the offer was launched in January 2014 and we have recruited 3 Specialist Licensees: Michele Brown offers Boogie Mites Sticks and Sounds SEN programme in the North of England, Niru Khan offers Boogie Mites School Ready Programme in North East London and Allison Ball offers the School Ready Programme in a Wiltshire territory.
