In the Jungles of Brazil

In the Jungles of Brazil is taken from the Boogie Mites Music and Movement Programme to Support Letters and Sounds Phase One and is a fun song about jungle animals that you can use at home or at your Early Years setting. Download Jungles of Brazil  for FREE and help children to:

• Make a full range of vocal sounds
• Use instruments to make animal sounds
• Stimulate imagination through role play

Before the song:

• Read 'Walking in the Jungle' or other jungle stories and encourage your child to name the different jungle animals and to make their different sounds. Talk about going on an adventure to explore the jungle and ask your child what we would need to take with us.
• Gather any jungle animals that you may have to help set the scene. 

• Print of the In the Jungles of Brazil lyric sheet and colour in the animal pictures

During the Song: Sit down and clap to the beat. When the song says "Say hello to the snake" wave hello at your snake (toy/picture) and make a snake sound....sssssssssssssss!  If you don't have a toy or picture, make a snake with your hands. Do the same with the other animals in the song. Once you and your child are familiar with the song, stand up and add in some actions: like a monkey jumping up and down and a parrot flapping its wings. Encourage your child to sing along.

Further ideas: 

• Make up your own version of this song about the place where you live. Encourage your child to make up the song with you and sing it together when you are out and about. ( In the park beside my street, that's where I go to see the animals. I say hello to the dogs, woof woof woof, in the park beside my street.)

• Make instruments from things you find around the house to represent the different animals. A kitchen pot and wooden spoon can make a loud noise like a drum. A shaker makes a great snake. Click here to watch a video about making your own shaker.
